Manual muscle testing is a method of clinical functional diagnostics.

Vasilyeva L.F., Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Medical University, RGMU, FUV, Moscow, Russia

Actually, functional (reversible) disorders usually occur before the appearance of clinical manifestations. As a rule, they are divided into pathobiomechanical, pathochemical and pathological emotional. Experiments of M.R.Mogendovich have proved that all the functional changes are interconnected with each other through their connection with the muscles in the form of motor-vistsero, vertebro-motor and other reflexes. Hypoafferentation from affected structures to thalamo-pallidarn. system leads to hypotension and hypoexcitability and some other compensatory shortening of muscles. A comparison of these data with EMG study of excitability of muscle provides a method of diagnosing the priority of functional mechanical, chemical, or emotional processes in the genesis of painful muscular syndromes. For this provocation is performed in the form of short-term irritation test structures hypoafferentation of which led to muscle imbalance. The patient's body is subjected to short-term irritation: mechanical (body displacement vertebrae), chemical (the location on the patient's body of medicines under the magnet), emotional (emotional stimulation points on the face). If this provocation restores the necessary flow of stimuli in thalamo-pallidarn. system, then it is immediately reacted functional connections of the internal organs and, above all, with the muscles. Muscle tone associated with visceral organs recovered in response to this provocation.

The result is determined clinically (pain in muscles compensatory overloaded), muscle tone restored at manual muscle testing method of J. Gudharada. The excitability of the muscles is restored with the EMG studies.

Conclusion: The method can be widely used in practice.
